LCADS have developed a basic Modal pseudo metering system which can be used as an independent meter in various energy costing modes. The system has been designed to use live data from a PECU array.

It has various facilities, inlcuding a summary inventory to provide a 24 hour connected load profile. It also has a facility to input predicted switching if the live data is not available. It can be used as a cost comparator for different tariffs on offer.

Can the system ?

• Calculate energy charges using the 48 half hour band tariff type prices ?

YES - and there are facilities for installing different quotations so that the band costing can be compared with the standard fixed tariff method.

• Calculate sunrise and sunset times for different locations ?

YES - A Nocturnal Calculator is included and additionally it can also predict theoretical switching times for various PECU settings. This has been tested by Lancashire County Council to have an annual deviation within 2% of actual measurements.

Does it require a full detailed lighting inventory ?

No - The system was designed for local authorities with hard copy summary inventories in mind.

Capabilities

The adoption of such a metering system is completely independent of traditional Regional Electricity Company restrictions and annual overhead charges.

It will assist in identifying many of the problems facing local authorities prior to entering the competitive purchase of energy.
